Construction of Classrooms (Phase 3 &4) for Higher Secondary classes at Sivasaraswathi Vidyalaya inclusive school.
As a part of the various initiatives Amar Seva Sangam set up Sivasaraswathi Vidyalaya, to educate and empower the rural poor and physically challenged children, a primary school in Ayikudy village way back in June 1981 with just 5 students. Encouraged by the successful implementation of the program and the persistent demands of the rural population, the primary school was gradually upgraded to the present higher secondary level by 2015. This could be possible only because of the whole-hearted financial support and blessings of our donors and well-wishers. Our school provides a rare and excellent opportunity to the physically challenged students and the other students to study together and get to know each other. The current strength of students is 744. Over the last six years, our 10th tandard students had scored 100% success results, while the same results were obtained by our 12th Standard students since last two years – the first batch of 12th Standard students appeared for exams in March 2017.
To mention the success story of our school gradually getting upgraded : in June 1991 it was began as a primary school, in 1991 it was upgraded as a middle school, in 2009 to high school and in March 2015 to the higher secondary level. Our efforts are to prevent dropout of students by offering them quality and affordable education; ensure avoidance of child labour; equip them to pursue higher studies for better livelihood in future and learn to live in amity. We offer 3 sections in Plus 2 Courses with a present strength of 66 students.
Sivasaraswathi Vidhyalaya school building had to be expanded to accommodate the increased number of students with better mobility for physically challenged and to fulfil the government norms. The construction of extension began in 2016 consisting classrooms, laboratories, toilets, ramps and lifts with an estimated total budget of Rs.347.36 lakhs – to be completed in four stages. We are very happy to inform you, with the full support of our donors – be it the individuals, corporate houses, trusts, we successfully completed Stage 1 and 2 totally costing Rs. 162.31 lakhs and Stages 3 & 4 have to be completed with construction of four classrooms, one laboratory and other barrier-free structures. This will enhance the School to accomplish the Government norms for Higher Secondary School and also the students will get a full-fledged infrastructure for their comfortable learning and completing their Plus Two education and to encourage them to pursue higher education and to become economically productive citizens.
