To improve the self-confidence of children, contribute to their holistic development through promotion of extra-curricular activities and extract unexplored talent out of these young souls, Nakshatra provides a platform for children to dream and get the exposure they deserve.
Don’t all children in the world warrant a worthy platform to discover their potential? To ensure that, Nakshatra holds reach-out events throughout the year at the orphanages to scout talent, with an aim of showcasing it in the annual inter-orphanage talent festival. The event has an array of competitive activities and has been a runaway success, providing children from disadvantaged backgrounds with an opportunity to improve their self-confidence and develop their talents and hobbies.
50 different competitions in arts – including flower arrangement, pot painting, clay modelling, elocution, dance, song etc and athletic and sporting competitions like sprint, high jump, shot put, volley ball, chess etc are conducted to facilitate maximum talent discovery. The event is peppered with entertainment, games, workshops and a science exhibition to keep the children busy even while they were not competing.
Two zonal sports events and five zonal arts events in Chennai from August to October followed by a grand finale for the winners in February 2019.
Bhumi is one of India’s largest independent youth volunteer non-profit organisations, mobilizing over 12,000 volunteers in more than 14 cities across India for causes like education, environment, animal and community welfare.
