Raising Funds for SSKK
At Shikshan Ane Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SSKK), we work on various issues including health and education, but our focus has always remained on women and children.
Saurashtra has gone through severe droughts over the years to the extent that people could no longer grow crops. This situation has led to the mass migration of men to find alternative ways to make an income, therefore, leading to deteriorating social and economic conditions for women and children who were left behind.
SSKK run various projects to create other sources of income in the village. We provide micro-credits to families to invest in entrepreneurial activities by organising self-help groups.
Our Mahila Nyay Samiti (Women Justice Committee) monitors the safety of women and helps them fight against domestic violence. We have fought and won 2,800 female-related cases in the courts so far. When not battling the injustices of domestic abuse, we also distribute textbooks, uniforms, and stationery to over 1,200 children to make sure they continue going to school. Moreover, promoting health and sanitation in villages by installing water filters and building toilets is another important project we are committed to.
