Around 260 million people in India live on less than Rs. 100 a day. With over 150 million people living in slums, the state of Maharashtra has stark social and economic differences.
Prayas run multiple projects in education, health, and employment for the holistic development of marginalised communities in rural villages of Maharashtra.
We work on regional issues in partnership with other organisations and like-minded individuals. As an umbrella organisation, we train non-profits on various developmental projects, focusing on teaching women employable skills.
So far, we have helped over 500,000 families across Maharashtra. Our various projects include providing scholarships; teaching vocational training; supporting social entrepreneurs; and organising hygiene awareness campaigns for young people. We now have 2,000 young volunteers working on 600 of our projects.
